School Visit, Stations Tours and Event Invitation
Metro Fire would love to come to your school or community event. Our firefighters will bring their fire engine and show off the equipment they use to keep the community safe. Fire engine crews will be on-duty and may need to leave immediately for an emergency. Please provide them with a parking space near the event so they can leave quickly and safely.
School visits typically last about one hour. During these visits, fire crews showcase their gear, equipment, and fire engines while discussing fire safety and important life skills. Priority is given to students from kindergarten through high school for these presentations. We have noticed that younger (preschool and TK) children often feel anxious around firefighters; therefore, we recommend waiting until they are older to experience this program.
Due to the high demand for our resources, please keep the following in mind when requesting Metro Fire attendance:
- Requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
- Firefighters are "in service" and may need to leave due to an emergency call.
- Attendance can be no earlier than 10:00 AM to allow for shift changes and equipment checks.
- Ensure there is enough space for a fire engine to park safely and room for departure in case of an emergency.
- Metro Fire does not attend grand openings or other for-profit events.
- Any scheduled event should have at least 25 attendees.
Station tours typically last around 30 minutes. During these visits, fire crews guide children through the fire station and conclude in the apparatus bay, where they explain the fire engine. Priority is given to students from kindergarten through high school for these tours. Please make sure that all attendees understand that the fire station is the firefighters' home and should be treated respectfully.
As there is a significant demand for our resources, please note the following when requesting a visit to a Metro fire station:
- Requests must be submitted at least 30 days in advance.
- Visits can begin no earlier than 10:00 AM to accommodate shift changes and equipment checks.
