Metro Fire is a member agency of, and is dispatched by the Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center (SRFECC). Metro Fire responds to approximately 110,000 calls per year so having a robust system in place to alert crews is critical. SRFECC Dispatchers sends alerts to the stations through a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Stations receive the dispatch alerts through an internet connection and is backed up through radio tones if the internet fails. The combination of the CAD system with internet based station alerting system helps to reduce response times.
